Three men are in a critical condition after a car veered onto a footpath where they were standing following a collision with another vehicle in Sydney's west.

Police and emergency services responded just after 9am on Friday to reports three people had been struck at the intersection of Bungarribee Road and Lock Street in Blacktrown.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the men at the scene for multiple injuries before they were taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

Blacktown Police Area Command Superintendent Andrew Gorman said the pedestrians, aged between 20 and 30, had "significant injuries".

"A westbound vehicle had collided with an eastbound vehicle, and the eastern-bound vehicle then collided with a number of pedestrians who were on the southern side of the intersection
