The seventh-generation farmer shifted the family tradition towards finishing cattle in recent years, and secured a top price of $2428 for her pen of nine Hereford and Angus-cross heifers, which weighed an average 516kg.

"At the moment, we're mainly buying steers and fattening cattle," she said.

"I've only got around 40 head to fatten up and sell at the moment, and then hopefully we'll get into some more breeders next season."
