In a remarkable encounter that bridged faith and reason, Mahatma Gandhi and Nobel laureate physicist Sir CV Raman once engaged in a thought-provoking exchange on the relationship between science, religion, and the search for unity in a divided world.

India is celebrating the 137th birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate on Friday, who was known beyond his achievements in science.

The meeting between Raman and Gandhi took place when the physicist introduced a Swiss scientist, Dr Rahm, to Gandhi.
