Solid waste clearance in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has received a major blow on Thursday (November 6, 2025) due to an order by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to stop waste dumping at the processing facility at Jawahar Nagar.

Hearing a petition against the pollution caused by the dump yard, the apex green court has issued interim orders to stall the transfer of solid waste to Jawahar Nagar, pending a report by IIT Bombay about processing of legacy waste. However, the bench has permitted the processing of existing waste at the facility.
