William Nylander leads the league with 18 points at even strength. John Tavares and Matthew Knies are right behind him at 16 each. The three Maple Leafs are 1-2-3 in even-strength scoring in the NHL.
That’s good, because the Leafs are nowhere when it comes to the power play, tied for bottom of the league with just four power-play goals.
It was goals at even strength that largely propelled the Leafs to their first three-game winning streak this season with wins over Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Utah forming the spine of this week’s power rankings.
As always, if you have a question, email me at askkevinmcgran@gmail.com and I’ll answer it in the next Maple Leafs mailbag. Now, to the Maple Leafs power rankings.
