LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Times are tough for Kaichon Rice and his wife.
“Things are really difficult," Rice said. "It’s thankful to have stuff like this, food pantries and the food banks and the churches, especially in times when food stamps are getting cut."
The U.S. Army veteran is a father of seven who receives Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food stamp benefits. He said he did not receive any benefits this past weekend, which led him and his wife to the Healing Place in Louisville.
"It’s difficult, man.” Rice said. “I thank God that He gave us a way to get it.”
The Healing Place is one of many organizations in the area helping to put food on the table for residents, opening the Neighbors Food Pantry last week. Sommer Ross, the Healing Place Women's Health Service coordi
