Dozens of flights at Boston Logan International Airport are canceled Friday as flight reductions ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration take effect. The numbers are expected to rise.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced earlier this week that air traffic will be reduced by 10% in 40 markets, including Boston, to maintain safety during the ongoing government shutdown .

Nationwide, Delta is canceling about 170 daily flights, United plans to cancel less than 200 flights each day, and American Airlines will cancel about 220 daily departures.
