HUNTINGTON — The Teubert Foundation Sensory Trail at the Huntington Museum of Art was recently expanded to a full loop after a year of construction. Officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday evening to celebrate.
The improvement project is titled “This Land is Your Land.” The extension is about a half mile long, making the trail into a 1-mile loop. It’s unique because it’s one of the most accessible trails in the area for people with disabilities, as it is paved, there are handrails, signage with braille and other sensory-friendly additions throughout.
“My hope is that more will use it now that it’s longer,” said Liz Simmons, the museum’s executive director. “It also connects to the rest of our trails in the back, so even if you don’t start here, you might stumble upon it.”
