SEVEN HILLS, Ohio (WOIO) - A 37-year-old man is under arrest for allegedly attacking a child in a shopping cart at Meijer earlier this week.

Seven Hills police said the assault happened around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the store in the 7700 block of Broadview Rd.

Family members were able to grab the child and escape the store.

The suspect was taken into custody; however, police said he did not immediately comply and threw merchandise around the store.

The suspect, who is nonverbal and has autism, is charged with assault.

“According to the mayor, early yesterday morning, officers responded to an incident at the Meijer. One person was arrested for assault. The incident is still under investigation. The prosecutor’s office may or may not present more charges. They have no further comment.”
