This wasn’t necessarily a bombshell as much as a reminder of why St. John’s sits near or at the top of the Big East food chain when it comes to roster cost.

On Thursday morning, Rick Pitino joined WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” show in studio, and among the many topics they discussed was the ways in which the Red Storm put together their stacked roster.

Pitino addressed the financial component, that the Johnnies’ top-ranked transfer class was made possible by hard work and generosity. They have a payroll in the neighborhood of $10 million, The Post recently reported, and while college sports has entered into the revenue sharing era — schools are allowed to pay athletes up to $20.5 million a year
