RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson visited Friday the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC to address the reduction in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
It is something that's taking a severe toll on families already grabbling with economic pressures and food banks stretched to meeting rising demands.
During his visit, Jackson discussed his lawsuit against US Department of Agriculture (USDA) aimed at protecting SNAP food assistance benefits and encourage donations to food banks.
USDA, earlier this week, said it would use $4.65 billion in emergency funds to cover about half of the federal SNAP program for the month of November. Jackson said they are still fighting over what the remedy is going to look like, and they are aski
