TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Travelers are bracing for delays and cancellations at airports across the country. The Federal Aviation Agency's plan to reduce flights due to the government shutdown went into effect on Friday.

The new mandate is top of mind for travelers at Tampa International Airport. Eslam Chevvy says, "I have a feeling that it's going to affect us or some flight change are going to happen."

Tampa International Airport has seen 18 cancellations and 27 delayed flights so far on Friday, as of 9 a.m.

The FAA is reducing flights by 10% at the 40 busiest airports in the country. Tampa International Airport, Orlando International Airport and Miami International Airport are all included on the list.
