Central High School’s Broly Watts was the top finisher among District 51 runners on Saturday at the state cross country meet at the Norris Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs.
The Warriors’ junior placed ninth with a time of 15 minutes, 56 seconds.
Watts was just more than one minute behind the pace of state champion Oliver Horton of Coronado, who completed the course in 14:48.40.
Palisade’s Hank DeFord finished 23rd after crossing the finish line in 16:27.30. Not far behind him was Central’s Brendyn Watts, who took 28th with a time of 16:41.90.
Central, which was one of only two D51 schools to qualify as a team for the state meet, took 10th as a team in the boys race. Grand Junction, meanwhile, palced 17th as a team in the race. The Tigers’ top individual finisher, Gerardo Gonza
