Mayor Karen Bass lifted LA’s homelessness state of emergency following a 4% countywide decline and 10% drop in street homelessness this year.

But the county faces a $300-million shortfall for homeless services next year, while thousands of federal housing vouchers are set to expire.

Questions remain about whether recent progress is sustainable and whether the homeless count fully captures all people without homes in the region.
