The National Manufacturing Mission (NMM) , which by the end of November would be "up and running", is going to transform India’s production landscape, BVR Subrahmanyam, chief executive officer of Niti Aayog, told CNBC TV-18 today.
The NMM was announced in the Union Budget for 2025-26, and is intended to be an overarching, policy-driven framework to coordinate efforts across central ministries and state governments. The key goal of the programme is to increase the manufacturing sector's contribution to India's GDP from around 16-17 percent at present to 25 percent by 2047, while creating large-scale quality employment.
