Students’ protest at Panjab University is justified, says Giani Harpreet Singh; urges all parties to back agitation

Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: Giani Harpreet Singh on Friday joined the student protest at Panjab University, Chandigarh, against the Union government’s decision to dissolve the university’s Syndicate, calling the agitation “justified” and appealing to all political parties to support it rising above factional lines.

In a post after participating in the demonstration, he said students had historically elected around 15 of their own as senators, a process that nurtured political interest and practical experience among youth. He alleged that the Centre’s move has stripped young people of this right and is diluting Punjab’s claim and emotional stake in the university.
