U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, a Trump ally, announced her bid Friday for New York governor, attacking Gov. Kathy Hochul as “the worst governor in America.”

Republicans haven’t won a statewide race in New York since 2002, but Stefanik brings national name recognition and ties to the Trump White House.
