CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A Charleston County School Board member and state senator’s wife is facing charges she said are based on false accusations by her reportedly estranged husband.
Known professionally just as Michele Leber, Suzanne Michele Leber, 55, is charged with domestic violence in the third degree.
Jail records show she was booked Friday just after 8 a.m.
The details behind the charges have not been released; however, both Michele Leber and State Sen. Matt Leber have released separate statements on the matter.
“There are a lot of false allegation being shared by my estranged husband who broke our marriage up with his affair. This is all [an attempt] to regain his public persona and discredit me,” Michele Leber said on Facebook. “I am asking for his resignation!”
