Hyderabad, Nov. 7: The Central government has clarified that demonetised ₹500 and ₹1000 notes cannot be exchanged under any new rule.

A viral social media post claimed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had introduced fresh guidelines for exchanging the old notes, which were withdrawn in 2016. The government dismissed the claim as false.

No New RBI Rule for Old Notes

According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check, reports suggesting that the RBI had reopened the exchange window for demonetised currency are fake. The agency confirmed that the RBI has not made any such announcement. It urged citizens not to share misleading information or forward unverified social media messages.
