Corduroy will forever make us think of Mila Kunis in That ’70s Show , but last year’s reworked cords have a more subtle nod to the decade. The return of cords was solidified when The Row gave the dated wardrobe staple a new lease of life in its spring/summer 2024 collection, with baggy trousers in burnt orange and scarlet that artfully puddled at the ankles.
Miu Miu has also played a significant role in the cord comeback, with pea coats, miniskirts and baseball caps realised in digestive biscuit tones. Unsurprisingly, this nostalgic mood has also been reflected in high-street offerings from Me + Em, Cos, Free People and Arket, all of which have had their respective takes on the trend.
