FARRELL, Pa. - A former Farrell Area School District employee who pled guilty in September to stealing from the district has learned his fate on Thursday.
Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker tells 21 News 25-year-old Derek Randolph was sentenced to 18 months in prison on a misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking and was ordered to pay restitution of $9,112.85.
Acker tells 21 News that restitution has already been paid.
Randolph was charged after overpaying himself for a job position that did not actually exist and also submitted unauthorized fuel expenses. Police said Randolph admitted to this conduct during an interview with officers.
It was also alleged that Randolph used district credit cards to pay for personal expenses and forged signatures on documents.
