New Delhi: The Supreme Court Friday asked the Law Commission to explore using blockchain technology for making the country’s land records transparent, tamper-proof and easily accessible, in a first-of-its-kind ruling that can fundamentally reform the nation’s land registration process.
In the forward-looking judgment, the court turned a routine case on property registration in Bihar into a broader examination of the country’s outdated and convoluted real estate system. It expressed deep concern over the “traumatic” experience of buying and selling property.
