Mammootty’s folk-horror film Bramayugam has scored a big international moment. The movie has been picked for a special screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on February 12, 2026. It’s part of a programme called “Where the Forest Meets the Sea: Folklore from Around the World,” and Bramayugam is the only Indian film included in this lineup, which is a huge deal for Malayalam cinema.
The film first released in February 2024 and immediately grabbed attention for its atmospheric black-and-white visuals and the unsettling tone Rahul Sadasivan created. Mammootty’s performance as Kodumon Potti was one of the highlights, and the story, about a folk singer who ends up in a creepy old manor, stayed with many viewers long after the credits rolled.
