This achievement follows a record year of visitor economy growth, Travel Alberta said in a statement about the award

Alberta was officially named the Most Desirable Region Worldwide at a Nov. 5 ceremony in London, England after 4.8 million votes were collected for the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.

The awards determine the most desirable cities, regions, countries and emerging destinations, while also celebrating the top destinations for adventure, culture, nature, culinary excellence and sustainability.
