Travelers with a flight scheduled this weekend should be sure to check that it hasn’t been cancelled, as airports around the country make cuts due to the federal government shutdown.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced this week that he was ordering a 10% cut in flights at 40 major airports, including Boston’s Logan International Airport , due to air traffic control staffing shortages caused by the federal government shutdown .

He said the cuts would start with a 4% reduction on Friday, then increase to 10%.

Officials at Logan said Thursday they were already starting to see cancellations .

The affected flights are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. International flights are exempt.
