COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The City of Colorado Springs received a $2.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to support anti-terrorism efforts.
According to city officials, this is the first time Colorado Springs has received these funds.
Officials said the grant, called the Urban Area Security Initiative, allows U.S. cities to address the unique planning, organization, equipment, training and exercise needs of “high-risk urban areas.”
The funds assist these cities in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, prepare for and respond to acts of terrorism. The entire Urban Area Security Initiative fund totals $553.5 million for fiscal year 2025, officials said.
