A five-year-old boy has been left with scars potentially for life after being attacked by a dog as he was playing in a park.
The young boy was playing in a park on Schofield Street in Mexborough, Sheffield , when an off-lead dog "aggressively approached" him. The dog, believed to be a bull breed, then "began to attack the child’s face and caused injury to his eye, ears and cheeks", Yorkshire Live reports .
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "What should have been an enjoyable experience for a little boy has turned into every parent’s nightmare.
"The boy was taken to hospital for treatment, and it is believed his injuries could cause lasting physical scars."
