A major street in Glasgow city centre has been forced to close this evening following a sinkhole "emergency".
The sinkhole was discovered on Elmbank Street, close to the junction with St Vincent Street, on Friday, November 7. The street is located near to Charing Cross train station, King's Theatre, and is just off busy Sauchiehall Street.
"Emergency" repairs are underway after the hole in the ground appeared. Scottish Water confirmed it is currently carrying out urgent repairs. It is believed that a damaged sewer is at the centre of the crisis work.
The area has been being fenced off and made safe while preparations are made to carry out a survey of the sewer.
