At the request of 20 th Judicial District Attorney General Glenn Funk, TBI agents continue to investigate a fatal officer-involved shooting in Nashville on Friday morning.

Preliminary information indicates the incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. in the 700 block of Representative John Lewis Way. Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department responded to a call regarding a person experiencing mental health issues and they encountered a man who said he was armed and who verbally threatened to kill them. For reasons still under investigation the situation escalated. Multiple officers fired their weapons striking the subject. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
