The arrest of Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, conducted in somewhat bizarre scenes in north London earlier, may have brought the police manhunt to an end, but questions over the state’s ability to properly administer justice will be much harder to dispell.

While Sir Keir Starmer and his embattled Justice Secretary are blaming the previous government for the speight of mistaken releases, Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch says criminals like Kaddour-Cherif ‘are making a mockery’ of the justice system.
