CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Opening statements began in the trial of two men accused of killing Scott Brooks, co-owner of Brooks’ Sandwich House in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood.
Statements were given on Friday afternoon, Nov. 7. Jury selection for the trial began on Monday, Oct. 27, and did not finish until Friday morning.
Steven Staples and Terry Connor Jr. were charged in connection with Brooks’ murder on Dec. 9, 2019.
Staples was charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for his alleged role in the crime.
Similarly, Connor was charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon.
