The TTC is set to launch a new safety pilot project that will be calling out bad behaviour by riders on its station speaker system.

Outside of just being notified when your stop has come or of a transit delay, the transit agency wants to hold riders accountable as well.

“If someone is seen vandalizing TTC property, using drugs or being aggressive to fellow passengers, they can be called out immediately through station speakers,” said TTC board chair and city councillor Jamaal Myers (Scarborough North).

The TTC said this project is currently under development and testing. There’s no word on when it will officially launch. It is expected to be first introduced at two of the city’s downtown stations, Union and Dundas.
