During the recent SXSW festival in Sydney, Melbourne-based music group Folk Bitch Trio performed an assortment of cuts from their ARIA-nominated debut album at Darling Harbour’s Tumbalong Park, with hundreds of adoring onlookers watching on.

Standing in the second row, swaying along to the acoustic rhythms and belting out the lyrics, was Sydney Sixers batter Elsa Hunter, who has played guitar since age 11, teaching herself the craft from YouTube videos.

The 20-year-old, also a fan of British pop-rock quintet The Last Dinner Party, has joined forces with Sixers teammate Maitlan Brown and Sydney Thunder young gun Sienne Eve to create their own band — Stairwell Trio.
