Marcy, N.Y. - A civilian staff member at Marcy Correctional Facility shot themself at the facility Friday morning, officials said.
At around 8:05 a.m., the staff member entered the administration building at the facility and shot themself with a firearm they brought, according to a Facebook post from the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
The staff member was pronounced dead at the facility, according to State Police spokesperson Beaue Duffy.
Staff at the facility did witness the incident, according to the post.
There is no risk to the public or to incarcerated individuals at this time, according to the post.
