A Bay Area Reporter investigation into the 2024 stabbing death of gay reality TV star Eduardo Xol in Palm Springs revealed that routine toxicology tests were not done on Xol’s blood because Desert Regional Medical Center destroyed Xol’s hospital admission blood sample before it could be tested by the coroner’s office. Xol died 10 days after arriving at the hospital. A hospital spokesperson told the B.A.R. that there is no legally mandated retention time for blood samples.
