The Washington Spirit will begin their playoff journey with the status of star forward Trinity Rodman up in the air.

The No. 2 seed Spirit host the No. 7 seed Racing Louisville on Saturday in the NWSL quarterfinal.

One day before the game at Audi Field, Spirit head coach Adrián González was coy on the 23-year-old, who is recovering from a knee injury.

"The only thing with Trin is she's been doing great," González said in his pre-game press conference, adding that Rodman's status was "day to day."

"I think she's checking those boxes and she's in a good spot, mentally and obviously physically she's improving," González said. "She's been doing a great job. Very committed with her recovery, doing as much as possible to be in the best spot as possible. We are optimistic and she's doing good."

Rodman is listed as questionable on the NWSL availability report.

The U.S. women's national team attacker suffered an MCL sprain last month in a Concacaf W Champions Cup match against Monterrey.

Rodman was unable to put any weight on her right leg after a clash with a Monterrey defender, leading to fears of a serious injury.

González said the diagnosis of an MCL sprain was a "best-case scenario," leaving some hope that Rodman would be able to participate in the postseason.

After missing most of the first half of 2025 with a back injury, Rodman managed 15 appearances for the Spirit in NWSL play this year. The Olympic gold medalist tallied five goals and two assists.

The winner of the Spirit-Louisville match will face either Portland or San Diego in the semifinal, which will take place next weekend.

The Spirit are aiming to return to the NWSL Championship this year after falling 1-0 to Orlando in the title game last year.
