‘Had NC not rigged 1987 elections, Salahuddin would have been CM’: AIP

Srinagar, Nov 07: Awami Ittehaad Party (AIP) on Friday held a massive public rally at Soibugh, where senior party leaders and workers gathered in large numbers to mobilise support for the Budgam by-election.

Addressing the gathering, Abrar Rashid, son of incarcerated MP Er Rasheed, in his speech, launched a scathing attack on NC, PDP and BJP for “decades of political betrayal and damage” to Jammu & Kashmir.

Abrar said, “Had NC not rigged the 1987 elections, Syed Salahuddin would have been the Chief Minister today. The rigging changed the political landscape forever and pushed Kashmir into turmoil.”

He slammed the PDP leadership, saying the party “brought destruction to Jammu & Kashmir by aligning with the BJP solely for power”.
