MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) -- The Wisconsin Department of Health Services has introduced a new online data tracker to monitor flu cases as the season progresses across the state.
The tracker, available on the department's website, displays reported healthcare visits for influenza and allows users to analyze the data in multiple ways. Residents can break down information by region, week of the flu season, and compare current activity to previous years.
Healthcare officials say the new tool provides significant benefits for medical facilities preparing to treat flu patients.
"Some of the ways we might use the data is anticipate when influenza will reach our area, so we can gear up our staffing and having testing available," said Medical Director at Neighborhood Family Clinic Dr. Aaron Olson.
