As varsity football season draws to a close, L’École secondaire catholique La Citadelle Patriotes will be moving to the regional championship against St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School Panthers, following a tense semifinals series.
The Patriotes went into playoffs as the second-best ranked team in the senior varsity league, after being knocked down from first in the qualifying game against the Panthers.
La Citadelle faced off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School (Russell) Ravens, who fought hard to get into the playoffs, beating out the Casselman Dynamos in their qualifier.
The Patriotes emerged victorious on their home turf, finishing their game 35-21. The Pats came back after a tense first half that saw both teams tied 14-14 heading into halftime.
