An exclusive Cape Cod town and another in the Berkshires were the state’s two hottest housing markets in the third quarter, according to a Business Journal analysis of data from Intercontinental Exchange Inc.

In Intercontinental Exchange’s math, “hottest” factors in quarterly and year-over-year data on listing and sales. That makes for a list in which a ZIP code in Fall River, one of the state’s most affordable cities, can outrank one in Wellesley, where the median single-family home price this year has been $2.2 million.
