A tenant advocacy group that represents renters across the province is criticizing the Ontario government for its plan to fast track changes to the eviction system.
Last month, Premier Doug Ford’s government tabled Bill 60 – titled Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act – which the government says is necessary to cut red tape and build homes faster due to a housing shortage and the economic uncertainty with the ongoing U.S. trade war.
“Our government is building a more prosperous, resilient and competitive economy by fighting costly delays and regulatory burdens that slow the delivery of homes, roads and infrastructure that communities need,” Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Rob Flack said in a statement last month.
