FOLSOM, Calif. —
It’s 6 p.m. and already dark in Folsom, but the chill of night isn’t stopping a group of dedicated mountain bikers from hitting the trails. Every Tuesday evening, they gear up, flip on their high-powered lights, and take to the forest for an exhilarating ride under the stars.
"I like to keep riding, so we ride year-round," says ride organizer Terry Ash. "The night ride is essential."
With daylight saving time ending and sunset arriving earlier, these after-work riders have had to adapt. Their solution? Bright LED lights — serious ones.
"You need really good lights — one for the handlebars and one for the helmet," Ash explains. "So you can look and see where you’re going. Really bright lights and big batteries."
