BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - It’s the season of giving, and students at Blacksburg High School are putting together a fundraiser to make sure bellies are full for families throughout the county and beyond for Thanksgiving.
It’s an annual initiative spearheaded by the schools’ student council to create meal baskets for local families in need. But this year, there’s more requests than usual, and students are asking for your help.
Times are tough, with the government shutdown still looming putting people at risk to losing federal funding for food.
But Naveed Jantzen said that also makes it the best time for us all to help out.
“It’s so heartwarming to see people’s faces when they get a full Thanksgiving meal around holiday season when they need it,” said Jantzen.
