(WHTM) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) said SNAP recipients in the state will get their benefits by midnight on Friday.
The governor, joined by Department of Human Service Secretary Valerie Arkoosh, made the announcement at a Philadelphia food bank. It comes as the federal government seeks to block an order from the District Court of Rhode Island to distribute November’s full benefits during the government shutdown.
"The vendors are literally, right now, sending these dollars out," Shapiro said, noting that anyone who was owed benefits on Nov. 1 will get 100% of their monthly benefits today. Not all recipients are paid the same day, so it will not include those who are not yet owed benefits.
