SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Just over a week after Sikeston’s Communications Center officially took over all 911 dispatching for Scott County, officials say the transition has gone smoothly, and emergency response times are already improving.
The merger consolidates dispatch operations from multiple agencies into one central location, allowing Sikeston Department of Public Safety(DPS) to handle every emergency call across the county.
“They understand the job that’s in front of them. Yes, they have more responsibility, more agencies to cover, but the job didn’t change,” said Sgt. Tyler Rowe, Public Information Officer with Sikeston DPS.
Rowe says there’s been no disruption in service since the change went live.
