STATEWIDE, N.D. (KMOT) - A new system is rolling out across North Dakota’s fire departments that could help crews improve incident reporting and decision-making.

The new National Emergency Response Information System is a secure, cloud-based platform when reporting and analyzing data.

It’s the first major upgrade to the nation’s fire data system in more than four decades.

This replaces the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

Some of its key features include zero-cost access for all public fire and EMS agencies, local data ownership, and real-time access to tools and insights.

The current system will be decommissioned by the turn of the year.
