BISBEE, AZ (AZFamily) — A man has been arrested in connection with a homicide in southern Arizona that happened four decades ago.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that 60-year-old Gregory Hamann is facing charges in the murder of Joseph Montgomery.

On Aug. 6, 1984, Montgomery was found shot to death at his apartment above a business called the Hair Port in Sierra Vista . Detectives couldn’t identify a suspect, and the case went cold—until earlier this year.

The sheriff’s office says additional testing and forensic analysis provided evidence linking Hamann to the crime. He was recently arrested and booked into the Cochise County jail on one count of first-degree murder.
