HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Connecticut lawmakers will return to the state capitol Wednesday and Thursday next week for a special session to vote on new housing legislation aimed at addressing the state’s housing crisis.

The state faces a housing shortage of between 100,000 to more than 300,000 units. Governor Ned Lamont previously vetoed housing legislation this year due to concerns about local control, but is now embracing the new bipartisan compromise bill along with many mayors.

“Every business I talk to, when they say they are expanding and moving, they say, ‘Will there be housing?’” Lamont said.
