SAN ANTONIO — A combination of windy conditions and continuing drought will once again create a risk for fires in San Antonio and the surrounding region this weekend, amid a rollercoaster stretch of shifting weather conditions.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says a Fire Weather Watch is expected to be in place for much of South-Central Texas on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., when gusts reaching 40 mph will be accompanied by humidity levels as low as 15%. A Fire Weather Watch means Sunday could feature the conditions for "critical fire weather," though it's less serious than a Red Flag Warning, which is issued when critical fire conditions are happening in real-time.
