The MBTA Transit Police are looking for a man they suspect of rape and strangulation.

The police issued a wanted poster for a man named Jon Brent Dyer, 58. The poster describes him as 6-feet tall and weighing 185 pounds.

A statement provided by police included no details of the alleged assault other than that it took place at Widette Circle in Boston on Sept. 26.

The Transit Police ask that anyone who knows of Dyer’s whereabouts to contact investigators at 617-222-1050. If you see him, police ask that you call 911 or 617-222-1212.

The Boston Police Department say that a “notorious thief” with several prior convictions for larceny walked out of the Prudential Center Mall at 800 Boylston St. with $1,140 worth of stolen clothing in his backpack.
